Since January 2020, I’ve led the development of Carlsberg’s global eCommerce software engineering department. Starting with a team of 20, we successfully built a new eCommerce platform from scratch and launched it with great success. The team grew to 125 during the COVID-19 pandemic, operating entirely remotely. Once the platform was established, we streamlined the team to around 75 members. My responsibilities encompass leadership, architecture, processes, testing, support, budget and financial reporting.
In early 2024, Carlsberg introduced its Accelerated Sail strategy, aiming for a comprehensive overhaul of several core business systems. Following an RFP process, Carlsberg decided to outsource all internal development to an external vendor, resulting in the planned closure of my department by the end of 2024. This transition has prompted me to seek new career opportunities.
I view change as an opportunity for growth and innovation. As I transition from Carlsberg, I am seeking a position with a forward-thinking, “green” company where I can leverage my skills and experience to drive significant advancements in software engineering.
With extensive experience scaling, managing and leading teams of over 100 professionals, I remain deeply involved in technical details, continuously driving improvements and fostering innovation. My team’s efforts were recognized by GitHub, highlighting our achievements in a GitHub Customer Story: https://github.com/customer-stories/carlsberg-group.
I am passionate about technology and excel as a hands-on leader. I thrive on making the impossible possible while ensuring a fun and engaging work environment.
I’m inspired by the “where magic happens” meme and I’m always looking to grow and ensure that my goals are outside of my comfort zone. I want my next job to challenge me with technical problems that I (or no one else for that matter) have solved before and with a team that either needs to be scaled from a single team to multiple or in an organiztion with 3 or more levels deep.
